Locative Media Project

For my locative media project, I wanted to approach this project by bringing out the space around me. I chose to depict this theme by using the first floor of the Center for Community to use my surroundings to my advantage. In this spacey hallway, I wanted to highlight the objects, rooms, and pop-ups that surround the room and use my audio clips to excite, and even puzzle the audience. The purpose for the implementation of my textual audio clips was to motivate the reader to take in the messages as they move through the next portion or section of the video itself. The idea was to carry on a platform of media that uses experimentation but also challenges the viewer to go outside of the box regarding what is presented to them.

The relevance of space in the locative media project is very distinct when taking into account the setting one films in. My course materials attributed to the idea of using space to complement my project. In my production process, I had to re-record my video several times because people continuously were walking through the lobby. Since I was working within a public space, I had to be aware of possible external factors that sidetracked the focus of my project. I learned that it is always hard to get exactly what you want in a film, and you have to work around these hurdles and circumstances to prevail strongly.
